At our facility, we organized power supply through two independent connections—this allowed us to select better tariffs and manually switch between sources based on load and time of day. This approach should have delivered significant savings, but manually tracking the results was difficult, and automation system glitches were inevitable.
Before implementing Amivisor, we conducted manual meter readings at our containers monthly using clamp meters to measure each ASIC’s consumption. This manual process was not only time-consuming but regularly caused disputes with clients: equipment owners demanded explanations for why their bills didn’t match expectations, cited mining calculators as reference, and argued over every kilowatt-hour.
The main challenge was controlling the energy balance between the primary commercial meter at 110 kV, measurement points in the 10 kV distribution switchgear for each outgoing line, transformers at the 0.4 kV substations, and data centers themselves. We needed to understand exactly where energy losses occur to avoid operating at a loss and maintain profitable hosting operations.
